12 July 2018

Offering 10,000 sq m of undercover refit halls, 1,500 ton slipway and deep water berths for vessels up to 100m, Solent Refit Ltd had provided refit and repair services for large yachts and ships.

The Company had agreed to surrender its lease to its landlord at Hythe Marine Park, Southampton and the directors had been winding down the business with a view to securing new premises. However, delays with the Company’s final contract left the Company in an insolvent position.

Without premises immediately available to move to, upon the expiry of the Company’s lease the customer made arrangements direct with the landlord in order to secure the premises and enable it to complete the remaining works itself. The Company was forced to cease trading and its remaining employees were made redundant.

The director consulted Peter Hall Ltd in May 2018 to discuss the options available tot he Company and decided to place the Company into Administration in order to secure the assets whilst being in a position to assist the customer complete the works and clear the premises.

A Notice of Intention to Appoint Administrators was filed at court on 23rd May 2018 and the appointment of Peter Hall as Administrator was confirmed on 5th June 2018.
