Romsey’s ‘Rum’s Eg’ placed into liquidation

Peter Hall was appointed liquidator of Hampshire Art and Craft CIC which traded as Rum's Eg on 23 April 2018. Rum's Eg is the old english name for Romsey.

The company was set up in 2012 as a community interest company to promote the work of local artists and craftspeople. The company ran a gallery and hosted various workshops for adults and children at its premises in Bell Street, Romsey and also operated a cafe.

The directors had hoped to obtain long-term funding for the project but were unable to obtain the grants they had hoped to. The company had been funded by long-term loans from its patrons and through various fundraising initiatives. However, it had been loss-making and had not been able to generate sufficient revenue to support itself. The directors took the decision to place the company into liquidation at the end of March.
